We are on the Wye and actually in the river getting close to the action chasing Chub and Barbel, then onto an absolutely classic Crabtree swim on the Wensum, before finally retiring to an intimate lake where some real monsters lurk. The focus is on dawn and dusk as these are key times, but also this is a full summer session and the chaps fish right through  day and into the evening, with some fantastic action and extremes of weather. The Nineties and first years of the twenty-first century saw John lead many expeditions abroad, often to the most difficult and dangerous of locations. None of them have TV experience – and that was a very deliberate decision on our part – so they had to get to grips with a filming schedule, being surrounded by a production team at all times, waiting around when they wanted to be fishing and, even when they were fishing, being directed and chivvied to do a million and one other things!
